Reiki Music

Published by marycaelsto under reiki Edit This

There’s a large selection of reiki music. Some of it is the artists interpretation of what the various symbols and energies feel like. Other music is simply soft, ambient music that’s good for giving a reiki treatment because it’s nice and relaxing. Some, like Kamal’s Reiki Whale Song, which happens to be one of my favorite CDs, is reiki music mixed with whale song. It’s uplifting and relaxing at the same time. It makes you stop, take a deep breath, and really appreciate the beauty of the music and of the whale’s vocalizations. Right now I’m listening to “Reiki” by Michiko Tanaka, and it’s just a gorgeous compilation of music that I find provides the nice amount of background music and energy to whatever I’m doing.

Reiki Cleaning

Published by marycaelsto under animals, reiki Edit This

I was taking care of a minor cleaning chore this evening and I happened to be cleaning the placemat that sits under my cat’s dishes. There were two corners that really weren’t coming clean. So, I thought about it. And realized that hey, this is the placemat on which my cat’s dishes sit. Why wouldn’t I want it to be filled with reiki.

So, I placed my hands, palms down on the corners of the placemat and gave it reiki for about a minute. Nothing too serious. Then, with almost no pressure at all, the placemat became clean. Not bad.

Move over Lysol. There’s reiki!

Healing Reiki

Published by marycaelsto under reiki, wellness Edit This

Mom’s not feeling well. She sounds better today, but she’s still under the weather. I’ve lit a candle and have been sending her reiki. For my mom, it’s easy. I just picture her, and imagine the reiki surrounding her with healing light. But then again, we talk every day, so I have a super close relationship with her. For others, it might be best to hold onto a photograph, or even use a doll, especially if it’s a child, to give reiki to. It’s all about what helps you visualize sending the reiki. If you can picture yourself doing that in your mind, then that works too. It’s that time of year when people get sick…so let’s picture ourselves sending them some reiki. And then, do it!

Reiki Study

Published by marycaelsto under education, reiki Edit This

http://www.reiki-research.co.uk/research1.html#Intro

This is an interesting UK site that looks at an actual clinical study done with reiki. Though the numbers are small and it appears that the author of the study made a note that the small numbers would make the information of limited use, it is hoped that this study will provide the foundations for future work with reiki. Although this isn’t a major cheerleading study for reiki, I found it interesting reading. It’s nice to look at some of these methods in a scientific light. Sometimes we get so caught up in the metaphysical aspect of things that reality, well, fades away. So I was quite happy to find this website. Good stuff!

Weather Reiki

Published by marycaelsto under reiki Edit This

It’s that time of year when plans are made, and discarded, because of a change in the forecast. While we cannot control the weather and it is important to remember a shift in the weather patterns somewhere has an effect in a completely different place, I don’t see any harm in sending reiki for good weather on a certain day for a very important event.

To do this, I would sit quietly for a moment. Envision yourself at whatever you need good weather for. Flash forward in your mind to include the entire event, such as driving to and from, and during. Make sure your emotions match the event too. Then, picture yourself looking outside and focusing on the important elements of the weather. Clear roads for traveling? Tolerable temperatures for being outside?

Do this once a day leading up to the event, and who knows, maybe Mother Nature can accommodate you.

Kitty Feet

Published by marycaelsto under animals, reiki Edit This

Okay, I admit it. I think kitty toes are some of the most adorable things in the world. When one of our cats is sleeping in the chair, his feet dangling over the edge, I can’t help but play with his feet. Or when the kitten is laying on his back and stretches, curling his toes and yawning…adorable.

Giving reiki to your feet is grounding. It centers you. It’s usually done as a way to end the reiki session to help bring the practitioner back to the “real” world. I don’t know if our cats need grounding. Sure, they think they are the center of the universe. But animals are famous for living in the NOW. I could certainly give reiki to their kitty feet, but you know, it’s more fun to tickle them.

This picture is Tenzin, our 14mo. old formerly feral “kitten”. He’s watching television with me last night. (I’m in the desk chair and he’s on the chair in my den that was setup for the cats to lay on.) Aren’t those adorable kitty feet?

Reiki Computers

Published by marycaelsto under reiki Edit This

I’ve had it happen when I’m writing, that reiki flows from my hands into the keyboard. But I was waiting for my old trusty laptop to boot up and all of a sudden, my hands tingled and reiki started flowing into the computer. I was holding onto its sides. I wasn’t typing. In fact, the familiar windows screen was starting at the time. I don’t know if my computer just needed a little “recharging”, or maybe if it was fighting off hard drive issues. Either way, my computer needed reiki. Sure makes you think twice about computer gremlins, doesn’t it? Maybe they needed reiki too!

Reiki Reminders - Self-Treat!

Published by marycaelsto under reiki, wellness Edit This

One of the things that I think is the hardest for any reiki practitioner to do is self-treat. I know, I know. We have the knowledge and the tools. We love to give reiki to others: our pets, our family, our loved ones. And yet, when it comes to ourselves, we have to be kicked with a reminder to self-treat.

It’s always important to put ourselves first, and reiki is just one way to do that. I’ve been fighting off a “bug” for a while now. Last night it hit with full force. I went to bed early, giving reiki to my head and sinuses, and whether it was the OTC medicine I took, the extra sleep, or the reiki, I feel better today. And I know that I’ll be periodically self-treating to keep myself feeling good.

Reiki Sinus Relief

Published by marycaelsto under reiki, wellness Edit This

There are a couple of pressure points in the face, the indents along the bottom of the eye sockets next to the nose and on the outside of the eye, and the point of the brow, that are good pressure points for relieving sinus problems. (I was told this information by a massage therapist and have found them to be beneficial for me.) However if the thought of applying pressure there makes you cringe, and it might depending on how severe your sinus problems are, then try reiki. Simply hold your index finger along the inner edge of the eye socket (well away from your eyelid), your middle finger on your brow, and your ring finger on the outside of the eye along the same lower bone. Simply imagine sending reiki to your eyes, or to your sinuses. If nothing else, it’ll be a quick pick me up when you’re feeling “pressured” during the day.

Rumble Purr Reiki

Published by marycaelsto under animals, reiki, wellness Edit This

Working third shift means that sleep is important to me. I sleep during the day. Well, usually I have one (or more) cats sleeping up near my pillow (or on it). When going to sleep, I like to rest my hand on the nearest cat (usually Tigger, our 17 y.o. diabetic cat.) and give him reiki until I fall asleep. The reiki relaxes me, helps him, and I can feel him purring through my fingers. (I put in ear plugs to sleep so I often can’t hear him.) It’s a  very relaxing situation for both of us, and it works great. He gets reiki and attention, and I get a rumbly purr to help me fall asleep.
